Papercraft 19 - Arin

After reviewing and buying and downloading several papercrafts from the Mabikaze paperworks site (see link on the right), I decided to ask to his owner, Northarant san (ノザラント）to help me in generating a new papercraft based on his style.

Being a great fan of the Pangya golf game, I asked Northarant to create a papercraft from their character Arin. He agreed and we ended up with this model (available for sell in his site HERE).

Having some transparency was one of the main reasons to have the model created, so I decided to make the model using Arin's Signature Outfit: Blue Aqua Dress.










And finally, the model assembled and themed:





This has been a very difficult model to assemble, taking in consideration the fact that the dress was made in a transparent material to simulate the transparency on the original virtual model. However, the result DOES worth it.

Papercraft 18 - Hybrid Mabikaze

I am very fond of the Mabikaze paperworks, have downloaded some of them, bought others, and assembled several of them. (HERE is one).
After making the Waitress, I bought the second version of the School Girl (HERE the first version, HERE the second version) and decided to assemble it. However, after looking at the similitudes, I decided to create a hybrid out of both models.
The first challenge: The textures. Having 2 different models needed to uniform the textures to create a feasable looking model, so I prefered to leave it almost all in white hues. The corset and the skirt are the same white-creamy hue, the skin was left unchanged. I prefered to leave the legs with some stockings, but the printer did not came out with the proper colors, they are supposed to be white tighs ^_^
I changed also the panty texture to be coherent with the rest of the model. ^_^
Finally, since I was still experimenting with the Pepakura viewer, i was not able to change the colors of the folding lines, so they look pretty obvious on the assembly. Very handy to know where to fold, not so good once the model is assembled. I shall change those in a few, as I got hands on the Pepakura Designer and can now change the color of the folding lines to be more in sync with the model.
The head is from the Waitress model, and I forgot to change the color of the hair, however the hair itself is from the School Girl model.

Basically:
Waitress parts: bunny ears, head, neck, body, corset.
SchoolGirl v2 parts: hair, arms, hips, panties, legs, shoes.

Papercraft 17 - Chun Li

Being a fan of the Street Fighter series, I decided to search for this title papercrafts. After some research, the only one I found was a Ken papercraft (kinda like too square in form). About 1 month ago, Noturno made this GORGEOUS papercraft based in Chun Li. It seemed pretty easy at the beginning, but after assemblying the first parts (the shoes), I noticed that the model was really huge and highly detailed.

This model took 5 days to completion. It could have been more, however my wife and I were making this papercraft for a gift and we only had 1 week to assemble it and gift it, so we did it in a bit of a rush.
Day 1: Right shoe - This might be the most critical day, because it was when I realized the size of the model. Pretty easy to assemble, it went fine.
Day 2: Left shoe - Same as previous day.
Day 3: Legs and hips - This part was a bit tricky on the tighs, but being a very big model with lots of pieces, it was not hard to assemble.
Day 4: Waist and bust - Another easy to assemble part. I decided to leave the last 2 parts on the top of the bust, close to the neck, without assembly. This was to be able to glue the arms to the body.
Day 5: Hands, Arms, Wrists, Shoulders, Neck, Face, Hair, Hair Tails, Dress - That was the assembly order. The hands are HIGHLY detailed and not that hard to do due to the size. The arms were a bit tricky on the elbow zone, but nothing to worry about. The shoulders took most of the time, being big pieces, it was time consuming! Finally, the Face and hair took most of the time, since they are formed by a lot of small pieces I neede to be cautious not to screw the expressions.
The final pieces (Wrists, Hair Tails, Dress) were easy to do and easy to assemble at the end.

The shoes are easily pasted to the legs, the shoulders proved to be the most difficult section to assemble, having the body already in place. The wrists are easy to put in place, as well as pasting the hands to the arms. The last difficult part to assemble was the neck to the body. I decided to assemble the head and glue it to the neck and finally glue these to the body. Took quite some time to dry but was finally in place.

In summary, it is a GREAT model, moderate difficulty to assemble due to the size and lots of pieces, but the result is AWESOME.

Papercraft 16 - Cats!

This time we made a very simple papercraft for a gift. This are 12 super cute cats that can be customized in any way. The simplistic design of this model makes them perfect to be mass produced and customizable in colors / textures / forms.

I think they are Nyan Cat based LOL.

We put all the cats into a small box forming a book titled "Mis nueve vidas" ("My nine lives") with a Björk style cat on it ^_^

Papercraft 15 - Tulips

On past Mothers day we decided to make this papercraft as a gift. Although it looks kind of simple at the beginning, it turned out to be a more complex papercraft during assembly.

The easiest part: The box. A simple square base for the flowers, including the green base for the flowers themselves.

The hard part: The flowers. Each flower is composed by 6 petals: 3 internal and 3 external, very well differentiated by the size. The inner petals are smaller than the outer ones.

You have to glue the petals and curl them a bit to give the impression that they do are petals, otherwise, they will look very stiff and hard.

The hardest part of the assembly was to assemble the flower once the petals were ready, since they are already curled, it made it difficult to get them all together. You need to use a good fast-dry glue, or keep the pressure for some time to get them stick together as they should. A pencil might work for this.

Maybe the most delicate part of all the papercraft is to paste the flowers to the green base. Again, use of a fast-dry glue is very advised.

WORD OF ADVISE: Do not try to make this papercraft IN A RUSH. Believe me, just 2 days before mothers day is not enough to get it ready for gifting ^_^
